Battlefield 2042’s Troubled Development and Identity Crisis Abclangkawi.com

This is a behind -the -scenes look at the troubled development and identity crisis of Battlefield 2042.

It’s been a few days since Battlefield 2042 Beta ended, giving many players their first experience in the upcoming conflict.

Fans received Beta with mixed opinions, with many worried about why Beta felt incomplete. Not only did bugs, glitches and performance issues hit the game, but it didn’t feel like a Battlefield title.

The features that gave Battlefield its famous character have been cut, with the game feeling more like a game copying a trend, rather than creating it.

Our first major red flag for Battlefield 2042 Beta came just a day before the start date. EA reports that the Beta of the game is a few months old.

EA’s forum post stated, “Our Open Beta has branched out from our Full Release client a few months ago, and is polished and enhanced to give a great overview of the full experience”. Soon after, DICE confirmed this, saying that they had fixed most of the Beta bugs for launch.

Not only do we get conflicting “polished and enhanced” statements from EA. But after that, we got the perfect justification story for bugs, glitches and performance issues before the Beta went live.

Secrets of the Battlefield 2042

Over the past few months, I have been in touch with an affiliate at DICE, who wishes to remain anonymous. This affiliate is one of the few people who has given me information that I regularly release.

The information has included key Battlefield 2042 details that I have shared publicly since May. However, I am also constantly informed about the development of Battlefield 2042.

On September 17thkei reported some of this information, stating that the game had been in trouble for months.

After EA claimed that the build was “a month old”, I openly tried to defend that statement My Twitter. I calculate that developers have about 110 days of development time to resolve issues if their statements are true.

However, the Battlefield 2042 Development Issue Main Timeline shows that problems with the game started much longer than Beta.

Battlefield 2042 Beta Build – Longer Than We Think?

However, shortly after my math magic, my DICE friend claimed that the beta build was actually not months old at all. The source stated that the Beta build was from early to mid -September, but could not give an exact date.

A second source will then back up this information, which has revealed Battlefield 2042’s delayed plans and a new Beta release date to me in mid -September.

There is no doubt that the build of Battlefield 2042 Beta is not a representation of the final product. But why did DICE remove it in that situation?

In fact, even in the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta trailer, we can see a more recent version of the game. An additional obstacle in the center of the rocket pad is a clear indicator.

However, what’s interesting about Battlefield 2042 Beta is that its delay doesn’t affect what’s played on October 6th. After researching the Beta build settings, we can see that the build is actually from September 20thke2021, just a day before the Beta was originally intended to go live.

This does not mean that the build itself is from this exact date. Still, it told us that there were no changes to the build despite the delay.

This seems to match what I’ve been hearing for months, that DICE faces major stability issues with game builds.

This is one of the main reasons until Beta, DICE is silent on releasing new recordings of the game. Not because they don’t want to, but because they can’t.

This is one of the main reasons why EA is not showcasing the Battlefield 2042 game at Gamescom.

Alleged Development Problems in DICE

According to the two sources mentioned, many of the game’s problems stem from management, with some management figures coming from Battlefront II 2017.

The management was allegedly not committed enough to the project, creatively only being told to do X, Y and Z. One of these management figures was simply described as a “yes man”, and apparently things have “been on the agenda ever since”.

Problems posed to the management also became deaf throughout the development process. Finally creating an issue that DICE can resolve earlier in the development process.

For a lack of creativity, the management really liked some aspects of Modern Warfare 2019, which supposedly the studio was encouraged to create something similar.

Modern Warfare Operators

Activision

Unfortunately, it’s not clear what exactly this means, but one of its features is the Modern Warfare operator. A feature that unfortunately tears apart the classic Battlefield class system.

As falling supply is a thing of the past for most games, publishers need new ways to incentivize purchases. One way is the Battle Pass and Expert systems, which have become commonplace in recent years.

It’s still unclear what other design options are coming from Call of Duty. But a ton of Call of Duty creators (who have never uploaded a Battlefield title before) have been invited to a closed Beta capture event. A clear sign that management is aware of the role Call of Duty played in the development of Battlefield 2042. Unfortunately, this choice left the creators of the hardcore Battlefield waiting in the wings of the capture event.

One of the biggest concerns stemming from Battlefield 2042 Beta is that some hard -working DICE developers care about their jobs. According to all the accounts I know, the commotion in the studio has started, with some developers already talking to close friends in other studios.

So far, no indications from management on layoffs have been discussed. But despite this, the events that took place after Battlefield V revealed still looked over the studio like dark clouds.

Beta Issues – What is the Future of Battlefield 2042?

The signs of a problematic development in recent months have been clear. And, unfortunately, Battlefield 2042 Beta is irrefutable proof.

Although Beta is months old, the reality is Beta is the result of more than two and a half years of development.

Not only that, but various other studios are also present to help.

Fans understand that DICE developed the game during a global pandemic. But we need to remember that the EA told investors that in February 2021, that the game was “much ahead of schedule”.

A lot can happen in seven months, of course, but claiming the game is ahead of schedule when the majority of the world is under curfew, to then experience constant rejection when the epidemic seems to be subsiding is a cause for concern. Development should be getting easier in the new norm, not harder.

DICE and EA not only have any identity crisis with Battlefield, but they have a crisis with themselves.

We’re supposed to be drooling on November 19thke release date after playing the Beta, but it seems more people are canceling their pre -orders instead of buying it.

Battlefield 2042 is fun, exciting and has amazing potential. But I can’t help but fear it’s a rocky road ahead for Battlefield, but I hope I’m wrong.

UPDATE:

Since this report, several developers from DICE have contacted personally to explain the build of Battelfield Beta.

As reported in the original report “This does not mean the build itself is from this exact date.” – This fact is true. According to the two developers, the beta branched out from the full game in the second half of August, with both August 19 and August 24 available.

In a direct quote, one developer said “After the branch, it doesn’t matter what the timestamp of the build.” Connected with “What matters is what is or is not in the code and data at the time and date of the branch.”

So, it looks like the Beta build is around seven weeks old (as of August 19th). In addition to the current DICE developer comments, the former DICE developer also added to the discussion, adding that the irrelevant Beta Build time is this report.

Everyone involved in this update either rejected or ignored my request to comment further on other aspects of this report.
